Having coffee with a group of women always generates a lot of conversation and brainstorming. That was exactly how Spring Fling was born in the spring of 1996. The first Spring Fling was an afternoon event that offered some great local entertainment along with a few craft booths. As the years have passed, Spring Fling has changed as ideas to improve the event are implemented. Some of those ideas failed, but persistence has always prevailed. Sixteen years later, Spring Fling is Cedar Vale’s largest annual event.
Cedar Vale, Kansas, is a traditional mid-western town in which alumni reunions, Labor Day celebrations, ranch rodeos, and dances are the glue that binds generations together. One major goal of Spring Fling is to give former residents a reason to come back home. That goal is now part of the tradition. Each year, Spring Fling successfully attracts former residents and visitors to the 3-day event. Spring Fling offers a wide variety of family-friendly activities such as a car show, a barbeque cook-off, and two ranch rodeos. So if you’re in the mood to take your family out for some entertainment, food, and dancing, then Spring Fling 2012 is the place to be!
Since 1918, generations of Cedar Vale residents have attended outdoor events held in historic Hewins Park and pavilion. It is only natural that Hewins Park has been host to Spring Fling since its beginning. If you have never been to Spring Fling, we invite you to join in the festivities. It will be worth the trip!
